The Dalecarlia Reservoir and Little Falls Stream Valley Park border the neighborhood providing additional privacy and miles of trails and parklands for its residents to explore. There are very few neighborhoods in Maryland that rival both the natural and architectural beauty as well as the access that Westmoreland Hills enjoys. Whether it is a quick walk to dine on the patio of Millie's in Spring Valley, a short drive to the fabulous retail and restaurants of Downtown Bethesda, a stroll into Friendship Heights or a bike ride along the Capitol Crescent Trail to the Georgetown Waterfront, Westmoreland Hills provides it residents with endless opportunities to explore. The origin of the modern day neighborhood dates back to the 1930's when Albert Walker, the owner of the majority of the land that is now Westmoreland Hills, sold off parcels to developers, the most prominent being Charles Berry, Jr. Today, the neighborhood contains around 500 detached homes that were mainly built between the 1930's and the 1960's. An additional 100 homes were developed in the 1970's in the Overlook subdivision of the neighborhood which has its own home owner's association and a central community pool exclusively for Overlook residents.
